Gloria Fowler was born in rural South Korea while her parents were planting a church in a remote village. She grew up seeing her parents planting churches and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ all around Korea. At 12, she left Korea to attend an international boarding school in India. Her father told her at that time that he was sending her to experience the larger world and to meet people from all nations, and to learn English to serve beyond Korea. She went in faith, only knowing “hello” and “how are you,” but over time was able to acclimate to school life with friends from 40 different countries. During that difficult time of struggle in her life, God came and met her as her personal Lord and Savior. Her life changed from that point on, and she dedicated her everything to God and to helping others know Jesus!
At age 18, Gloria came to the US to attend college. While serving her local Korean-American church, she received a clearer call to ministry. She also met Abraham during this time, and they became great friends, then married in 2001. She graduated with a degree in psychology, then pursued her Master of Divinity soon after. During this time, she served Korean-American churches for 8 years, predominantly working with the second- and the third- generation Korean-Americans in English. After her ordination, she served at an Anglo church for 4 years, then pursued her Doctor of Ministry.
She has always had big dreams. Around this time, she was given a unique opportunity to work at the denominational level to help churches with revitalization and new church planting. During her 10 years in this role, she has worked with several hundred churches, helping them turn around, experience renewal and transformation, and multiply into new churches that spread the good news of Jesus Christ! She has coached many church planters, pastors, and churches in the practices of healthy, growing churches.
It has been more than 30 years since Gloria left Korea, and now God is calling her back. She feels like Nehemiah, called to rebuild the prayer and the revival movement of Korea, and especially to pass it on to the younger generations and to raise up and coach young leaders for them. God has equipped her with many life skills and experience for the vision and the task that is ahead!
