Jinju City

We will primarily be living and serving in the city of Jinju and the surrounding area, in the southern province of Gyeong-nam in South Korea.

According to UNESCO, “Jinju is a city in southeast of the Republic of Korea with a population of 360,000 and is recognized as one of country’s leading cities of arts and culture.” It is also recognized as a center for education, home of several important universities. Divided in half by the Nam (“South”) river, just like Seoul is divided in half by the Han river, it has distinct districts each with a unique feel. Nevertheless, it is a much more comfortable size, with everything needed for city life, yet lacking the traffic and chaos of a major metropolitan city.

The prayer center is nestled in an arm of the surrounding mountains, just on the outskirts of the northern part of Jinju. When you are there, you truly feel like you have retreated from the city, yet the city is just a few minutes’ walk away down the hill.
