There’s an old saying, “Out of the frying pan, into the fire.” When we moved out of the path of the Gulf hurricanes so common in Louisiana, we were not thinking we were moving into the path of East Asian typhoons. (For those who do not know, a typhoon is a hurricane by another name.)
Just in our second week here, we have been making preparations at the Prayer Center in advance of Typhoon Hinnamnor (or “Henry”). This storm is currently lashing Taiwan and projected to sideswipe Korea and Japan in the next few days. We spent the day trimming trees that might hit the ministry’s buildings, and generally trying to clean up the grounds of things that might get blown around.

We ask for your prayers for Korea and specifically for this area and the ministry! The last major typhoon that damaged this area was Typhoon Maemi in 2003. This one is projected to have the possibility to be worse. However, we have experienced how God can protect us in the midst of the storm, through our time in Louisiana. More than once a hurricane was “projected” to be very bad, but turned out to be nothing much. So let’s pray for the same here!
