Aftermath of the Storm: Prayers Answered!

Thanks to everyone who prayed for us for protection from the storm called Hinnamnor (and it was a lot of you who prayed!) It is now Tuesday in Korea, and even when we got up, the storm had pretty much passed with little damage done.

As you may recall, on Monday night here (Monday morning for most of you in the US, when you started getting our messages), the storm made landfall. But by 8 AM Tuesday, it was already completely passed over Korea and well into the ocean on the eastern side of the peninsula! It had been projected to be directly over Busan, the second-largest city in Korea, by 8 AM Tuesday morning. Instead, God pushed it through to the other side quickly and with minimal damage. We were able to sleep through most of the night and although the rains were heavy since early Monday, the winds were weaker than projected also.

I could tell that everything was OK early Tuesday morning, because I heard the worship and prayer starting in the prayer center just like any other day!

As soon as we got up, we took a look around to see the damage. Aside from a lot of leaves on the ground, not much seemed amiss at first. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the wind was quickly dying down. Babbling and rushing brooks were streaming down the mountain in several places, but no flooding. As we walked the larger property, we did find four trees that blew over. These were mostly trees that had been recently planted (weak root system) or older trees that were ready to die soon anyways. None of them hit anything or anyone.

Gloria led the prayer and worship service in the afternoon, as planned. She preached on Psalm 46.

For Abraham at least, the “ministry” for the day mainly involved chainsaws, lugging logs and branches, and general cleanup of the property. 😂

In Korean news, there were some reports of flooding in one city, but the damage across the country was much less than everyone expected.

So, once again, thanks for your prayers! They really made a difference!
