Family Updates

In January, our oldest son Ernest began his mandatory 18-month military service in the Korean Army. He has adjusted well, even making significant progress toward earning an “elite soldier” badge through extra training and outstanding physical fitness! Elizabeth continues her studies in Kansas City and is thriving. Joshua is growing in stature— he will soon be a teen, and it shows! He is also growing in character. We are proud of all our children! Also, Abraham and Gloria celebrated 25 happy years of marriage this year, by taking a tour following the footsteps of the apostles Paul and John in Turkiye and Greece.

Prayer Retreats and Revivals

At Jinju International Prayer Center, our mission is to help people meet God, experience breakthrough, and be renewed in His presence. God keeps bringing people from across Korea who are hungry for renewal. Through daily worship, prayer, and preaching—365 days a year—we continue to see lives changed. We don’t always get to see the lasting fruit after visitors return home, but we regularly hear testimonies of lives transformed through this ministry. God is also answering our (and your) prayers for more volunteers to serve the prayer ministry! Within our ongoing rhythm, we have found a few milestones worth sharing. Our YouTube channel is growing, reaching over 7,000 subscribers and 100,000 views every month. Since moving to Korea in 2022, Gloria has now preached over 1,000 sermons—this would take nearly 20 years in a once-a-week preaching ministry! Abraham has led worship in Korean over 500 times and preached more than 170 sermons, including 110 in Korean. We also accept invitations at times as guest speakers at other churches throughout Korea.

Although we rarely host conferences, we gladly partnered with Vine University to serve Korean missionaries working in nearly 15 countries. For one week in May, we maxed out our dorms hosting more than 100 missionaries and Vine University staff for a missions conference and the graduation of students from their online school.

Ministry Facilities

We have long dreamed of renovating our main sanctuary. After more than a year of planning, Abraham directed a major renovation during three weeks in April. We proactively addressed a structural issue with the roof, re-leveled the ceiling, renovated the walls with acoustic treatments, installed all-new AC and ERV (energy recovery ventilation) systems, extended the stage, upgraded the speaker system, and more. A few finishing touches remain, but the space now finally reflects the kind of environment we desired to offer for God’s glory and for those who come seeking Him!

Just this past month, we finalized the purchase of a small two-story commercially zoned building in the neighborhood. We hope to renovate the bottom floor into a missions/outreach/community center and a classroom for our seminary students, and use the top floor as an office and studio. Pray for it to be used well for God’s kingdom.

We constantly upgrade and improve all our facilities as we find time and resources. Some of our dorms may be next for remodeling once we catch our breath!

Philippines Pastors’ Retreat

Last year in June, we were invited as guest speakers at a youth “Holy Spirit Camp” in Quezon City, Philippines. Then, at the end of September last fall, we led a pastors’ training retreat in Polillo Island. The dynamic and energetic youth praise band from last summer’s church in Quezon City joined us to serve the pastors who lead rural churches on this somewhat remote island. Serving others is an important part of spiritual growth, and it was encouraging to watch these young people minister so joyfully to pastors. We had a lot of fun and memorable experiences with them!
